8 Amazing Will Smith Movies ...

By Marquitta

Last week I was sitting at home watching reruns of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and it got me thinking of how much I love Will Smith. If you aren’t familiar with him, here are 8 amazing Will Smith movies that will make you love him as much as I do!

Table of contents:

  1. Men in Black
  2. Wild Wild West
  3. I, Robot
  4. Sharktale
  5. Hitch
  6. The Pursuit of Happyness
  7. Hancock
  8. I Am Legend

1 Men in Black

This was the first Will Smith movie I’d ever seen, and now every couple of months I pop it into the DVD player! Will Smith stars as Agent J, a former cop who joins a secret government agency in the business of keeping earth’s aliens under control!

2 Wild Wild West

This action filled comedy is one of Will Smith’s most hilarious movies! When Dr. Loveless threatens the United States government, quick-tempered Jim West (Will Smith) and cool, calm and collected Artemus Gordon (Kevin Klein) team up to bring him down with all of their fun and obnoxious gadgets! The dialogue and one-liners are my favorite things about the movie.

3 I, Robot

There are 3 natural laws to robotics. One- a robot can’t harm a human or allow them to be harmed. Two- a robot must do what a human tells it to do as long as it doesn’t conflict with the first law. Three- a robot must defend itself without breaking the other two laws. Well, everything goes awry when Detective Spooner (Smith) investigates a murder, and the only suspect is a robot who is supposedly incapable of murder according to the 3 laws! This movie was exciting and suspenseful! If you haven’t seen it, it’s about time you head to your local Blockbuster.

4 Sharktale

Will Smith stars as Oscar, a fish that has big dreams but is the lowest of the low working as a disgusting whale tongue washer! The movie is about Oscar falsely taking credit for a shark’s death and faking his way to life of luxury as the Sharkslayer. Like all DreamWorks animations, Sharktale is a fun and energetic movie for the kids containing some adult humor, which makes it great for the whole family to see!

5 Hitch

This is one of my favorite Will Smith movies of all time. After every time I watch Hitch, I feel like I just completed a 60-minute abs workout! I laugh non-stop from beginning to end! It’s about Alex Hitchens (Smith) teaching men how to pick up and keep women, while he’s having problems of his own trying to woo a gossip columnist (Eva Mendes).

6 The Pursuit of Happyness

This movie is based off the true story of Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman who invests in medical equipment, then later comes to realize they aren’t selling like he thought they would. Chris’s wife leaves him, he loses all of his money, and he has to live on the streets with his son as he pursues a steady career as a stockbroker. Will Smith did an amazing job with the part of Chis Gardner. Though absolutely amazing, the movie makes me cry too much to watch it all the time, so I end up popping it in every blue moon.

7 Hancock

Hancock is another great Will Smith movie! He’s the super hero everybody hates, but when he saves Ray’s (Jason Batemon) life, Ray works to help Hancock create a positive public image. With a combination of comedy, action, and romance, yet again Will Smith amazes me.

8 I Am Legend

If anyone had any doubts about Will Smith as an actor, they ended here. This movie is one of Will Smith’s best and most talented pieces. He literally made this movie by himself. If you can be the only actor in a movie for almost 2 hours, you are phenomenal in my opinion! Dr. Robert Neville is immune to a strange virus that wiped out almost the entire human race 3 years ago, and attempts to make a cure. This thriller keeps me on the edge of my seat every time I watch it!

If you ask me, Will Smith is a genius and as time progresses, his movies get better and better. I’m anxious to see Will and Jaden’s new movie ‘After Earth’ coming this summer. What are your favorite Will Smith movies? Would you add any to this list?
