7 Must-See Movies You Should Stream on Netflix Tonight ...

By Teresa

I’m a sucker for a good movie, especially a movie that’s getting older and happened to find its way onto Netflix. If you’re the same way, you’re probably constantly looking for new Netflix recommendations (aren’t we all?) but just keep coming up short. If you’ve been on a fruitless search for new Netflix movies lately, this list is sure to pacify you for at least a month or two, and it’s full of some of the best-kept secrets on Netflix!

Table of contents:

  1. Drive Me Crazy
  2. She’s All That
  3. Fools Rush in
  4. 13 Going on 30
  5. Good Will Hunting
  6. Jersey Girl
  7. Heartburn

1 Drive Me Crazy

Drive Me Crazy stars Melissa Joan Hart and pre-Entourage Adrian Grenier in what might be one of the best high school romantic comedies from the 1990s. They play neighbors and former best friends who fell into completely opposite cliques in high school. That is, until Nicole (Hart) needs a date to a school dance. Chase (Grenier) steps in and one of the cutest 90s romantic comedies is born.

2 She’s All That

This is another adorable 90s romantic comedy set in high school. Freddie Prinze Jr. plays the jock and Rachel Leigh Cook plays the geek he bets he can turn into the prom queen. I’m sure you can figure out where the story goes from here, but it’s still a cute movie worth watching!

3 Fools Rush in

Can you tell yet that I have a deep love for romantic comedies from the 90s? It was one of the strangest pairings in romantic comedy history, and yet for some reason it worked so well that I’m still waiting for a sequel. Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek play a couple that accidentally get pregnant after a one-night stand and then decide to get married. It’s about as unconventional as a romantic comedy can get, which is why I think it’s so lovely.

4 13 Going on 30

If you haven’t seen 13 Going on 30 yet, I’m very worried about you. Jennifer Garner plays Jenna Rink, a 13-year-old girl who wishes she were 30, until she wakes up and realizes that she’s turned 30 overnight. The chaos that ensues (especially with her former best friend Matt, played by Mark Ruffalo) makes this movie a classic romantic comedy that you need to queue up on your Netflix immediately.

5 Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting is good for so many different reasons, but one of the biggest reasons was the Robin Williams role. As we close in on the one-year anniversary of his passing, there has never been a greater time to reminisce on what was easily one of the greatest movie roles he ever played. Along with that, Matt Damon and Minnie Driver gave amazing performances as well. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, it’s definitely one that you won’t forget soon!

6 Jersey Girl

This is just a disclaimer: I couldn’t actually finish this movie because something happened that depressed me so much that I couldn’t finish watching the movie. I knew it was going to happen and I still couldn’t handle it. That being said, though, this was still a movie that I loved for so many different reasons, from the cast to the script and everything in between. Besides the fact that I couldn’t finish it, this is a great movie.

7 Heartburn

If you know me, you know that I live for any movie that has Nora Ephron’s name attached to it. While this movie got pretty mixed reviews, it is one of my favorites from her. Mike Nichols directed it, Nora Ephron wrote it, and Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson starred in it. I don’t think you could imagine a better group if you tried. The movie is autobiographical, and tells the story of when Nora Ephron was 8 months pregnant and found out that her husband Carl Bernstein (yes, of Watergate fame) was cheating on her. It’s equal parts sad and funny, but mostly, it just feels real. They don’t make movies like this anymore, so if it’s one you haven’t seen yet, you absolutely need to.

What’s your favorite movie on Netflix? I’m always looking for new recommendations, so leave your ideas in the comments for me!
